Went to Half-Price Books and Movie Trading Co today, and got $101 for a bunch of books, DVDs and CDs I never use anymore. Not too shabby. And of course, since we were in the area, Catherine and I had to go to Ikea, where I bought another Benno shelf to go with the one dad bought me for my birthday, since the one shelf still isn't enough space for all my DVDs. I have a ton of TV shows on DVD. I watch them all, I swear!

This was followed by a belated birthday dinner with Sara and Geoffrey, which was of course pleasant. We went to P.F. Chang's, which I can't remember going to in so long. I had the orange chicken, which was fucking DELICIOUS, if rather pricey.

Still hurting for money, but things aren't as bad now that I'm beginning to learn how to curb my spending. Going to Ikea was a great test of that - I've been looking for a place to store my magazines and almost bought a small $60 drawer unit until I realized I could just condense the clothes in my dresser at home to make room to store the magazines on the bottom shelves. Haven't been spending much online lately either, except for one incident when I realized I never bought the Napoleon Dynamite 2-disc set on DVD and just HAD to have it. It was only $20 thanks to my B&N discount, so whatever. I've also got a few auctions going on eBay which should bring in an extra $60 at least, and Lindsay is buying my Alanis Morissette concert tickets (we decided not to go anyway.) Looks like everything's looking up, money-wise.

This being my first post to this new Livejournal, I wanted to make it something special. And what's more special than a pointless survey?

1. Who was your FIRST prom date?
I didn't have a prom. My first homecoming date was Pam, who succeeded in further alienating me from my high school peers.

2. Do you still talk to your FIRST love?
I've never been in love.

3. What was your FIRST alcoholic drink?
a margarita. thanks Tasha.

4. What was your FIRST job?
Barnes & Noble. I've been there almost two and a half years now. I have a love-hate relationship with it.

5. What was your FIRST car?
I'll let you know.

6. Who was the FIRST person to text you today?
my friend Catherine, wishing me a happy Easter.

7. Who is the FIRST person you thought of this morning?
besides myself? Catherine.

9. Where did you go on your FIRST ride on an airplane?
my sister Tasha took me to La Jolla, California for my 21st birthday.

10. Who was your FIRST best friend?
I don't remember his name, but I was 3 and it was in The Woodlands. His mom ran the daycare I went to.

11. What was your FIRST sport played?
hell if I remember. I never played for any school teams. I was track manager in 10th grade though.

12. Where was your FIRST sleep over?
I'm pretty sure it was at my cousin Carlos's when I was a wee toddler.

13. Who was the FIRST person you talked to today?
my dad

14. Whose wedding were you in the FIRST time?
the only wedding I've been in was Tasha's, when I was 13. I walked my grandma down the aisle.

15. What was the FIRST thing you did this morning?
peed and got a glass of sweet tea

16. What was the FIRST concert you ever went to?
it was some shitty concert in Dallas with only local bands playing. I've never been to a 'real' concert. God I suck.

17. FIRST tattoo?

18. FIRST foreign country you went to?

19. What was your FIRST run in with the law?
I was at the mall like six years ago and had bought a bunch of shit that I didn't want to carry around anymore. So I hid the bags under a table at Sears so I could keep browsing, and a security guard saw me and thought I was trying to steal and almost arrested me. As far as REAL police, a few years ago my friend James, Catherine and I were walking to a gas station down the street at like 2am, and some bitch cop stopped us and interrogated us for like 30 mins to make sure we weren't some gang trying to rob people and sell meth to kids or something.

20. When was your FIRST detention?
8th grade

21. What was the FIRST state you lived in?

22. Who was the FIRST person to break your heart?

23. Who was your FIRST roommate?

24. Where did you go on your FIRST limo ride?
never been in a limo! :(

25. Who will be the FIRST to repost this?
hell if I know

Now that I finally have the money to blow on something totally materialistic but mind-numbingly awesome, I'm thinking about getting an iPod.

However, I'm torn between buying a Shuffle or Nano, but leaning toward the Nano. I hear the Nano and the Mini are essentially the same thing, but the Nano tends to break down a lot, so the Mini would be the better of the two. Problem is, it's off the market, but Amazon.com is still carrying it, so that's good enough for me.
