Note to self: buy an iPod.
Now that I finally have the money to blow on something totally materialistic but mind-numbingly awesome, I'm thinking about getting an iPod.

However, I'm torn between buying a Shuffle or Nano, but leaning toward the Nano. I hear the Nano and the Mini are essentially the same thing, but the Nano tends to break down a lot, so the Mini would be the better of the two. Problem is, it's off the market, but Amazon.com is still carrying it, so that's good enough for me.

Nano: Smaller, color screen, flash-based disk instead of hard drive, easier to find in stores w/a warranty plan

Mini: More disk space for your buck (a 4gb Mini costs the same as a 2gb Nano), doesn't scratch or break as easily, but may be more difficult to get support now that it's discontinued

If 2 gigs is enough then I'd say it's a toss-up, they've both got their strengths. I'd probably get a Nano and put a case on it immediately.

I may just go with a regular iPod, since the option to store video files really appeals to me. This does mean I can download video files on my computer onto my iPod (assuming they're the right kind of file), correct? And regular iPod does include the cable that allows me to watch video files on my TV?

I don't really know how the video iPod works, actually. I read ipod and they've hinted that video files have to be a certain format (probably Quicktime, but there are free programs out there that will convert videos). I haven't heard anything about watching iPod videos on a TV though.

its up to you. My sister has a mini and it is still good. But a nano is more sleaker..but..Nano is much more expensive then a mini. So either or. both are good.

Does the Mini/Nano have the ability to play video files, or is that just the regular?

I think it is the regular. I am not to sure! But if i had to bet, I'd say the regular Ipod.
